Climate ChangeThe ChallengeThe challenge of combating climate change is widely regarded as one of the greatest tasks facing the world. As a rich industrialised nation the U.K. has a responsibility and an opportunity to lead on its approach to these challenges and it will require considerable social innovation to achieve this. Consumer demand for environmentally friendly products and services is rapidly increasing yet this will only succeed if appropriate systems and organisations become established through which appropriate technology or behaviour change can be chanelled. This is buoyed by the growing support of green issues by politicians as well as society at large. This has developed an atmosphere conducive towards change and innovation - where members of the community are seeking to lead. New innovative approaches to carbon emissions, electricity usage, recycling and transport will significantly affect the UK’s impact on the threats of climate change and global warming. |
