Marginalised Groups

The Challenge

The UK is an increasingly diverse and multi-cultural country, yet there are increasingly divisions and fractions within this society - resulting in the marginalisation of some groups. This impacts on different sections of our communities to varying extents and contrasts remarkably in different locations countrywide. Regardless, despite these variations there remain unmistakeable sections of society who suffer marginalisation including: the disabled, those suffering from long term conditions or mental health issues, certain ethnic groups, refugees, the unemployed, the homeless, disaffected young people and groups due to geographical location.

These groups have often become marginalised for starkly different reasons yet it is fundamental for the prosperity, peace and security of our communities that their needs be addressed and they be able to re-integrate within their local communities. Social innovation is paramount in facing this challenge - seeking to develop practical and enterprising solutions through which these groups can engage with society.
