The HIA is holding an Open Space session for NHS managers, clinicians and front line staff and social entreprenuers interested in health, to explore how innovation can be used to improve the NHS. The day will begin with an advance view of the Young Foundation’s latest thinking on social innovation methods, presented by Geoff Mulgan, the Director of the Young Foundation and formerly director of the Government’s Strategy Unit and head of policy in the Prime Minister’s office. We will then use an Open Space format to discuss how innovation offers solutions to important NHS problems. The Open Space format gives you the opportunity to define topics of interest from your own perspective and to contribute to solving problems proposed by others. We envisage the discussion will cover both the hows and whys of innovating within the NHS, and the application of innovation to specific issues, such as delivering healthcare in innovative settings, providing better support for those with long-term conditions, encouraging healthy behaviours, and how to use happiness to improve health. The workshop is free of charge to participants; your contribution will be in terms of experience, energy, enthusiasm and ideas. In return, the workshop offers significant benefits:
